Our Best Friend that is with us always and is Love, is the Holy Spirit. None of us could live a life with any purpose without the gift of the Holy Spirit from God that is guiding us and allowing us to understand Gods will in every aspect of our lives. Pray and you will receive clarity.

Anything that I produce in my life that is of value , that is notable is certainly a gift of God through the Holy Spirit. Amen !

Sanctify – Come Holy Spirit – Annie Karto

I began this writing on Tuesday and it was a peaceful and prayerful day. I felt called to reach out to many on that day as well. Some are living a similar cancer walk as I. And a few are friends that I have not spoken to for a short while.

I put down the phone I grabbed my kindle and went to my bible and I was drawn to the following scripture. I looked at the scripture and St. Pauls words on what he witnessed about our Lord Jesus Christ to others in his time.

He say’s I speak of what I know about Christ Jesus and through the Holy Spirit all the words come. Paul knows nothing personally anymore than I do or you do. When we speak of God and his glory or we are counseling another and giving hope to others we are all like St. Paul. We are spreading Jesus love to those of our time.

I have repeatedly said on my blog, I can only speak of my own personal journey here, and what has Its happened to me. Gods moment in my life.

But, the peace that resides in me is God’s gift, my understanding of my situation and being able to climb out of my selfish day to help others is again due to the fact that the Holy Spirit within me is leading me to an understanding from God to just trust him. We all have the Holy Spirit and God who is working with us every moment. So, worry not.

No worry and no trouble is too big that God cannot remedy it.

We as humans cannot comprehend what our God does for us all in every moment.

The Priests Of The Church.

I would like to take a moment to discuss a very important topic.

Our wonderful Priests Of Our Church.

Let me say this first, I am fully aware of what has happened in my church, the sex abuse scandal. It happened in all denominations of all faiths, all schools,orginazations whether they were secular or religious. Evil exists everywhere, The Devil takes great joy ripping down structures of our society. He does not care about children or us.

Evil got into my church through a small number of priests by comparison to the total number of priests that are giving their lives to the Lord in their ministry.

The pain these priests caused the children, their families and the church by their abuse is just unbelievable. The way the church as a whole answered the crisis was in my honest opinion slow and very lack luster. I believe that the church needed to answer , needed to pay reparations to aide those that were harmed. I feel the full weight of the legal system should be used to take care of these abusers. And it has been.

God is ultimately going to judge them and I do believe that they will be held to a higher standard before God than the lay people.

Personal story:

Back in the 70’s I was a alter boy at St. Agnes in Arlington. I was serving the 4:00 mass in the lower church. I went into the church a little early that day my dad dropped me off I was probably 10 years old at that time. I went into the sacristry door and sat on the chair. There is an inner sacristry . ( Nobody but the priests were allowed in )

So, I was sitting there you could hear a pin drop and all of a sudden another alter boy came out of the inner sacristy and I said hello D. he did not make eye contact with me and scurried out the door. A minute later Fr. Eugene O’Sullivan came out and said hi Dan and left for a few minutes.

That boy as it turned out 20 years later was one of the first cases settled in the Boston sex abuse scandal.

So, I personally have a lot of deep rooted feelings on this matter.

The other side, The bigger peace of the picture is !

All of the wonderful priests that have served, are serving and may serve in the future. These men are good faithful men. My pastor is incredible! By the way he too had a Miracle while in Medjugorje. His healing allowed him to communicate with his congregation. God Will Make The Way !

The Devil seemed to have won this little battle by trying to take down the Church that Jesus Christ built but, God will heal all of the childrens wounds and will heal his church as well. If I had left my church and its life giving sacraments then Evil would have totally won!

The sad thing to me is that some people may have walked from their faith although I think they may have found perhaps another Christ based church which is fine also.

Lastly, Some people who used to say to me, you still do not go to church do you? You see, the funny thing about these people back in that day was that they were not going to church even before the abuse scandal. But they were so offended! Why didn’t they want me to go to church either? Thats not God talking!

I needed to go to heal myself and my family from the trama of this event, I was angry but you do not cut yourself off from what gives you life, your God !

What the Devil did was to take a weakness in another human being (priest) and tempted them to a horrible offense against the people and their God that they were called to serve. They were punished and held accountable as was the church.

And, the people alot of whom do not go to church any way began to say I don’t go because of the priests. Making an excuse like they too were victims. They were not active with any church but they were poised to open their foolish mouths.

Well, guess what. God knows where you are and what your doing and knows why you are not in church too.

So, from my point of view, I have met so many wonderful priests in my life from Monsignor J. Linnehan, Fr. Buckley, Fr. Barnes, Fr. Steele and Fr. Ron the list goes on and on. And, as I said before my Pastor Fr. Ron, is so wonderful he works tirelessly in his ministry to his parish and God. It is God in action to watch him. He is a Shepherd of a flock. So God Bless these men and their ministry work.

By The Way …

Alot of innocent priests were also falsely accused of being abusive and after years were cleared of wrong doing ! The media was not so so quick to report their innocense either. Evil at work. For sure.

Are priests or clergy from any religion perfect ? Of course not. They are human too.

So, In closing on this subject what ever has happened to you, I am sorry and believe me you are all in my prayers. I also pray for those abusive priests as God calls me/ us to do.

Most importantly is that those who are not in communion with God now, please pray on where you stand and get back to whatever church you feel will feed you. Just go where you feel you can be in relationship with God. Amen.

In speaking with so many people over the last couple of weeks the common theme that they are expressing is the fact that time seems to be moving at lightening speed.

I would have to agree with their observations. At first I thought it was just how I was feeling but it seems to be a trend. Time is precious and life is a beautiful gift. It seems like now at my age 52 I hear more and more about those who are ill and are passing. I often wonder honestly if I would have even noticed if I had not myself been afflicted with my own health struggle.I think that I was so wrapped up with my life stuff I did not realize fully what was happening to others and how time disappears into the past. Again, I find we as individuals think that illness and death could not happen to me.

I have recently talked to a very close friend and this person indicated to me that a lot of people are not like me. MY feelings about my illness and the fact that I am not racked with fear. I said as always that God gave me this peace, I do not take any credit personally. What gots me feeling sad is the under lying decay of our societies Faith. I do not care what church or faith anyone is from, but those where Faith is really not a factor in their lives makes me feel bad. I do not judge, but I feel really bad for them. I feel a sorrow in my heart. They look at me and yet they think its luck that is why I am still here.

You know, periodically I hear what a Miracle I am. I am now saying and where is a Miracle from? I say God. These people still do not get it. They really just use the word Miracle because the word represents something an event which is out of the norm.

I try to drive my faith and do not use it as a battering ram. When I speak to people about my experience through God in my life I mainly just talk about God’s love for them and his desire for relationship with them. That nothing is impossible for him.

People who don’t get it will challenge me and you know, I let them know after a short conversation that I am not a bible scholar , that I am just relaying my 100 percent factual life account surrounding my life walk as a sinner towards the cross. Anything that they may hear that sounds just so fantastic, is Gods glory and his doing.

I was again speaking to another friend about a month ago and we were discussing another situation that I had just experienced. She said you feel like you are considered to be a talisman of sorts. I said yes, and you were the first to ever say that to me. You know, it is good when someone see’s what your going through and steps up to say with love I understand your plight in this situation.

I was watching a program on a Christian channel and they had on a women and author who had an acronym that I think is awesome.

FAITH MEANS AS AN ACRONYM,

FORSAKING ALL I TAKE HIM.

I have been here in slow motion and I decided about two months ago to accept this situation and the rate of healing that I am moving at. With my acceptance of my current life came a different type of peace.

I was thinking about my writing about the many miracles that I have witnessed. I think that today would be a good time to share another one . I was getting my radiology treatment at Brigham and Women’s and I had gone for treatment and my family brought me from radiology and we were sitting in the waiting area waiting to see my doctor A.

I was rolled into the waiting area and it was packed. I told my family just leave me here I am not in the way and said just grab seats in the room somewhere. I was left sitting in my wheelchair to the side of the center isle. The television was on and people were talking. I was just sitting there and was making eye contact with my family sitting off in a distant. There was a women sitting probably 4 rows ahead of me in the center isle and I noticed her turning her head straining to see me. She started to push her wheelchair back with her foot.You see The Holy Spirit or what I call Divine Spirit had been noticed by this beautiful women Rebecca. As she backed up to get to me she knocked someone’s crutches over, she had her eyes turned and locked on mine as he made her way backward the 10 to 12 feet to get to me. I then made eye contact with my family they were engaged and were watching the scene unfold before their eyes.

Rebecca got to me and she turned and her chair and ended up slightly in front of my chair on an angle. I was able to see her face.

Normally, I would say hello and introduce my self but in that moment I became the passenger on the bus and watched God in action this was about Rebecca and I was l learning that anything was possible through God.

We sat there for a second or two and she was looked into my eyes and said hello.The response from the Holy Spirit was hi. Again, a small pause and she gave me a soft smile. Rebecca said to me have you ever had the smoothies here? I said no. She asked are you staying in the hospital ? I said no, I told her I was getting out patient care. She told me that she had been in the hospital and was in outpatient care for treatment. How God ministered to her through me was breathtaking.

As I have said before I have a naturally strong voice so anything that was being said was meant for everyone in that room. They heard it all and emotions were showing and I could feel the weight of the stares of others. God allowed Rebecca to carry the conversation drawing her out. She asked what kind of cancer I had and I responded brain cancer. Then out of my mouth came what type of cancer do you have? Her response with sorrow and tears was lung cancer and I never smoked. God was just breathe taking.The whole room was locked onto our conversation. Out of my mouth came Rebecca, I am sorry. Her eyes were locked onto mine. The Holy Spirit of God said it is hard for you. She replied yes. I said you were the doer for everyone and she said yes. I said, I understand. Then out of my mouth came that I am going through the same thing, that in life we need to accept what’s going on and allow others to do for us. I told her how much God loves her and us all . I Said, God’s got you and you will be fine. I looked and a women at the far end of the room was staring at us and crying. With that my brother got up and asked me if I wanted a snack. And Rebecca’s sister arrived back to stay with her. My brother brought the snack basket that the hospital supplied to Rebecca and others who could not get up. That’s my big brother 🙂

It was now my time to see the radiology oncologist. So, as I rolled out of the room, the whole room got a very vibrant God Bless You. Many responded back the same. God is all about hope,joy and comfort. We need to turn to him no matter what.

I often wonder how she is, I never saw her again. The one thing I do know is that Gods got her.

You know there is an old expression that I have heard, “In every life some rain must fall”. Without the rain and trials of life we would not be growing and learning so many different life lessons. I think that the lessons that I have personally learned thus far are the most important. Because, by ourselves it is easy to be me centered, me oriented, me focused on every aspect of life. Generally speaking through God’s Miracle of birth we all arrive on the scene by ourselves from the safety of our mothers wombs.

And then everything we learn, eating, crawling, standing, speaking etc are learned and used by us to be independent of everyone. Our parents are charged with the responsibility of protecting us, feeding, clothing and helping their children to see their God given gifts, assisting in their education, the most important of which is Faith in my opinion. And being a kind and compassionate member of society on many different levels and aspects.God did not design us to be self absorbed, he intends us to be a generous benefactor giving our time, service and gifts to others to bring The kingdom Of God to life on Earth.

And when we are ready and have learned our life lessons we are on our own, the masters of our own destinies.

But we need to strike a balance in this life.

What it comes down to is this, in my opinion.. While we are out persuing who we are to become what happened to me personally was my Faith was at odds with my drive to succeed at what God had show me as my lifes work. My work was also a ministry of sorts, I loved my clients /friends and my employees. I yearned for the simplicity of Being with God, With family, with friends and helping any one along my road that I could. I needed to learn that I had to watch to make sure that the worldly stuff did not invade every area of my life. God and service could not be put on hold. So, I was busy juggling work, family,faith friends and charitable endeavors. But I was young and why shouldn’t I or my wife sacrafice ? To whom much is given much is expected.

I am sitting here with a monsoon outside today 🙂 LOL It is still beautiful to look out and see God’s nature at work.

I thank God that when I was physically able back in the day that I did every single thing that I could do for another that needed it while I could. My wife and I never left one brother or Sister behind. Praise God that I/ we listened when I/ we were called. If I had not who knows if God would have heard me in my moment of need.

Remember The Lords Words… What You Do For Your Brother, You Have Done For Me. Amen!

My lifes ups and downs are mine just as yours are yours. It is when we are in our lowest possible points in life that we truely become the most generous, the most loving and the most compassionate. God stetches you to become more. We gain an understanding of something that we were blind to. It is like fasting and prayer through fasting, we receive additional graces that allow us to learn a different type of teaching through The Holy Spirit. Where we get what God is saying without the wondering. We own it.

I honesty hope to soon be out in front of the Blessed Sacrament at my church asking Jesus through prayer to answer my and your needs, to see my dad more, to visit the nursing home once again to say hello and let them know that they still count.

God makes us all unique and yet we are all so connected. Divisions are caused by people who are not doing Gods will. God is always working to repair our mistakes and trying to bring us back together. Gods biggest challenge today are those who are walking through their lives without him.

If People do not realize that he is truth and life then what can a Father do? We have free will so our decision is crystal clear. Eternal Death or Eternal Life.

A good parent corrects his or her children so I fully expect that God will correct us all as a people. What will make us safe is our realationship with him. If we are not in a relationship with him, it will be a difficult situation for us.

I had just written about nuns within the last 2 months on my blog and here is. Sr Cristina Scussia she is singing songs of this culture but with her focus is on Heaven. All the joy. So , The Pope is behind her, and she is witnessing to the world. Sr. believe it or not is helping to bring people back to the church. Gods got here doing something special. A very joyful thing to witness.

Sister Christina Scuccia Won The Voice Italy. God is in her corner to help us all to unite.

Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.

I had a very heart wrenching conversation with a very sick Aunt the otherday. She is my god mother actually. We converse by phone when she feels up to it. My aunty has been struggling with lung cancer that has spread. She is tough and is a fighter. She has had one set back after another and the treatment is getting too much for her to handle. She is sick and tired and very angry with life.

Yesterday, I was so happy that she called me because she and I were able to talk about everything in her heart surrounding her illness and in her feeling towards what she felt her illness was doing to her family. Every word she uttered I got, just as every response that I gave she understood. She was suddenly not alone in this crisis.

She like I have said has been suffering from a terminal cancer and has held her chin up to Heaven with constant prayer.

I said you know Aunty, its okay if you are tired, it is okay to continue treatment or not to continue treatment.

You need to pray to God and get peace about this. Sometimes quality of life is more important that quantity. If you are this terribly sick from this new drug treatment then maybe you need to decide if it is worth it.

You see these are very real life circumstances that I too may need to face at some date.

I reassured her that she will know, a peace will come to her surrounding any decision around this matter that she makes. God is with her

God’s got her and us all.

So, Please keep my Aunty J in your prayers.

Remember life can be lived like a tragedy or it can be lived with the assurance that God’s got it and it will be beautiful depite the circumstance.

If God’s got a loving word for another that is stuck on your lips you need to let that love message out. Unleash Love to everyone ! Amen !
