Whe we are younger we think in terms of ourseleves , about our needs,our dreams,our desires. And then along comes marriage, children sometimes both. Once a person is Blessed with the responsibility of a chid to raise it is the most important job that anyone could ever have.

You may not be the parent but you may be their aunt,uncle,school teacher , church member etc.

Advent is the time to shine a light out into the corners of our lives and see who or what needs help.

Reminding yourself that you too once was a kid. Listening and understanding what our kids are trying to  say and giving them the dignity of their decisions. Do not chastise them too much. They are learning and just need be shown the way. They will get it eventually. As my mom used to say, cool heads prevail. As I say, cool heads with a warm hearts really prevails.

You know,  raising kids all close in age with my wife working nights and my working days made us both full time parents. We connected daily by phone multiple times checking in , planning for what awaits us when we get home. my biggest struggle was decompressing from work before I got home at 5:00 5:30 and the kids would run around me. My eldest daughter S used to sit on my foot and grab my leg  so I could walk and carry her like a ride across the kitchen.:)  All the kids were so cute. They relied on the goodness, patience and loving support of their dad and mom. I often think I could have been a little more patient back in that day but I too was a bit immature. I too was learning lessons of how to die to self for something far more important, my family. Amen/. At one point I found the answer , We moved. I lived 2 miles from my work so we moved north about 8 miles and I now had a 25 minute commute home. I was a different person when I got home. My business thoughts were put to bed, I prayed and put on some music while driving home in Traffic and the traffic did did not bother me either :). It prepared me for my most beautiful job. Tending to my kids, supper,baths stories and prayers before bed.

My wife and I are not perfect but we are trying to set our children up for Victory.

When I say Victory I don’t mean they have to be rich monetarily, They need to be rich in their relationships with others but most importantly with God. They need to love themselves for being uniquely who they are. Their is no other person exactly the same. A Father and Mother are called to lead their families in their foundations of Faith. I have prayed for and received Miracles on behalf of my childrens needs. And without my faith and that of my wife my home could be like so many others that are broken, and out of control. I am not judging those homes again perfection on this Earth is not fully attainable. But we need to lead and bring our families to the cross. Where they will be safe . Amen

Salvation is not found on a soccer feild, nor is it found on the basket ball court. Salvation is found in relationship to God and his son Jesus Christ.
