This week and weekend have been very busy by my standard. I have been up and down and in and out. Having said that I have been pushing myself through the day. Today Saturday, I was up at the crack of dawn and was the first in line for the toxic waste drive in my hometown.
Yesterday/ Friday I went about putting chemicals, old cleaners and other items in a box and into my car. I worked by myself very carefully so as not to fall as I went through the shelves in my garage. I then noticed that a window blind had been knocked out of the window in my garage. Well, me being me it started to bug me as I worked so I did something either very brave or something very crazy. I pulled a step stool up to the window and decided to climb up on the step , I then began to try and figure out how to do it without falling. I finally just went for it and found myself on the step with the left foot trying to step as well. It was not an easy thing that’s for sure given my left side weakness. I fixed the blind and it made me feel good. Now, I needed to step down. I took my time and did so. I felt so good.
I placed the stool against the wall and saw a lamp that my son left to go to the trash he had broken it as he was moving out to his new home. i went to put it into the rubbish and realized the light bulbs were still in it. I thought geeze the garage door opener bulbs are gone, I will see if they work and put them in . They worked and then I said how can I put the bulbs in the opener is in the middle of the garage. I put the bulbs on the shelf until I could get help. I went about the garage cleaning and said I can fix that light. I moved my car into and off center in my garage. I then used the side of the vehicle to hold onto as I climbed up to get to one side of the opener. I stepped on the ladder after some serious planning. as I strained with my hand to reach the cover that protects the bulb. My left side began to fail. The tone problems kicked in from my working. I got the bulb in as I leaned on my car not to fall. I began to worry about how I was going to get down. My left side was in full rebellion.
I was thinking God , this is not good. In that moment I heard hey Dan do ya need a hand? I said oh Crosby right ? He smiled and said yes, he is my new neighbor. I don’t know how he saw me in my garage against the car but he did and I was so thankful for that. I said my wife would kill me if she knew I was doing this. He smiled. I said I am sick of all of the stuff that I cannot do. I told him what I was trying to do. He said can I help you with anything at first I said no. I hate bothering and relying on others. People are busy. Then, I said you know Crosby, would you mind changing the other bulb? He was glad to so I moved my car and he fixed it in a minute. I was so happy but also learned that I will never get onto a step stool or ladder again. Until I am healed anyway. 🙂 It was a foolish act, for sure.
Everytime I think that I conquer mind and emotion over matter, things of which I cannot control. I have proven time and time again to do stupid stuff.
For the record my brother has asked me time and again what I need and my response is I am fine.
Patience is a virtue that I need to conquer in order to be a happier and safer me.
Saturday was my wifes works outing. It was at Kimballs Farm in Westford. The weather was beautiful. I was exhausted from my output of labor in the garage on Friday so, my son pushed me every where which is not easy for him. I sat and looked at the beautiful surroundings, the smells , sights and sounds. I watched much older people with their children and grandchildren and thought I will never be that fun papa that can do the stuff and play with the kids. Grandparents were in the bumper boats and i felt deminished as I sat there.
As I have said I need to be honest about my journey. Hopefully to help another person who may find themselves in my situation.
Today, I again willed myself to church just standing up at the pew caused my voice to gently moan. I needed to be there because my Spirit was a bit battered.I am tired because I push myself to be relevant in some way to someone.
Guess what ? Fr.s Sermon was spot on today he spoke of Jesus and his heroic life of carrying his cross in order to bring us life and eternity through him. He explained that the easy road in life doing your own thing , being me centered leads to destruction of a soul and possibly eternity. My blog is about my life but not really about me it is a small attempt to help someone and to please God.
Fr Spoke that following Jesus and his teaching would be mocked just as he was. Guess whats it is happening daily now. I hear it all the time.
The road to Jesus is hard and narrow as is the gate that we enter trough to get to Heaven so I will follow that road and carry my cross. I need to except that he knows what I am dealing with and find solice in the fact that its going to be okay.
So, attending church for me was important as it always will be. I received the encouraging message that God had for me, I received the fellowship of my friends and family there and most importantly I received the precious body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
First off , thankyou for your prayers for our friend Helen. She is home recouperating from her eye surgery and is face down during this long process. She will know in two weeks if in fact she has vision in that eye. Janet spoke to her yesterday and she was up beat and beautiful as always. You know why ? Nothing is that big a deal when you realize that Gods got it. Its pretty simple.
On a beautiful note her husband and our dear friend Deacon Paul was invited to serve at the papal mass in NY this month. What a blessing. 🙂 I will ask him to take all of our prayers and needS to the cross of the alter that day. AMEN.
This morning I woke up and got going. I put the diswasher on and went about my routine. I began my morning prayer and heard a noise that brought me to the opposite end of the house. as I looked out at the painters who arrived next door I heard water and thought what is that ? Well, I needed one of these! OMG
okay, okay I didn’t need a canoe but thats what I told the repair man and I got a loud chuckle out of him. lol I also said that I had a water current in my kitchen.
My diswasher malfunctioned and my kitchen floor had water all over it. Thank God my wife did a couple of loads of towels that were fluffy and folded and ready to be put away. My daughters were on their way to work and jumped into action swabbing the deck and drying the floor. we will wait to see what damage may be done to the harwood from water underneath. I called the insurance company. all of my appliances are under a service contract so no worries about any damage. The repair man for the appliance is scheduled to come out also.
I made myself another cup of coffee and called my wife just to let her know everything was okay in case she got a cryptic message from my kids like… FLOOD or Dads recliner is totaled. lol
She said how can you laugh? I said honey what can you do? My kids were present as I spoke to the appliance place and their insurance company. I said to them its life so we need to just fix things thats all. We don’t know what can come our ways daily. but its only stuff. its not that important.
Finally, A very good childhood friend that I will call the Florida connection responded to my blog last week. I feature many many artists and their music on my blog and Facebook daily. Many of which are Christian and some are not. Music is healing in my belief system. It is throught the bible and human history. When I blog it is after prayer and I am very much directed by the Holy Spirit to things many times that I have not seen or heard before.
My friend is involved with his parish and is a Eucharistic minister. Bill commented on how much he likes Michael W. Smith and his music after he read the blog and heard the song.
Bill sent another email to me to listen to a song that he loved by Michael W. Smith. Its called all is well.
I listened to it today after the flood and after morning prayer and it is beautiful.
It is a Christmas song, but I truely mean this it is a song for everyday life. Christmas is everyday to me because every morning that that I wake is a blessing from God and it serves as a reminder that Jesus has been born in order that we be allowed life with hope of eternity.
So yes, we are heading towards the historical date of Dec 25th ( Christs birth to save humanity.) I love the Advent Season and the Christmas trappings as much as the next guy. But the real importance is not lost on me.
I have stared down death with a terminal illness and do not know what tomorrow will bring personally. I do however know that my tomorrows are full of hope, and love of my God, family and my friends so how awesome is that ! 🙂
We could also be living Christmas of the heart daily. If we choose to.
So,
In closing, lets enjoy the day regardless of what comes our way. Gods got it.
Hi All, I would like to ask today for prayers for a dear friend Helen who had a very serious eye surgery yesterday. It was the second such surgery that she has undergone. This surgery required weeks of recouperation while remaining in a position of lyeing flat on a special table looking down at the floor. Helen is an amazing women of faith but this certainly will test her on many levels. She is a wonderful, generous loving women.
please pray for Helen and offer any graces you have up to her and her family in the hour of their need.
First off from Dannyville. 🙂 Thank you for your prayers I received word that my appeal to my insurance carrier was successful. My insurer notified me last week that I would receive a one time extension of my physical therapy coverage. Starting Sept 12th and ending Dec 12 2015. It will allow me another 20 therapy sessions. So again I am truely grateful.
SoME one said to me what happens with your therapy after December ? My answer was this. Gods got the plan. I am grateful for the extension and who knows God could restore my left side completely by then. God can do anything that he chooses to do.
I am wiling to accept what Gods plan is for me more and more everyday. We are all on a road to calvary and then beyond to the promise land. Thats my belief.
Lets just take a moment and thank God, and to ask of prayers for eachother to be answered. I ask this in Jesus name Amen.

My wife and I got out of town for a few days . Our children were in and out of our NH escape based on their schedules. It was nice being out of the daily routine. Where we stayed does not have great cell service or wi- fi so it was like dialing back on the technology. I like this place for this reason as well. 🙂
Lake, mountains, pines the call of nature and the quiet presence of mind and Spirit. God in the silence where personal thoughts, reflection and sharing with those that I love is what this life is about.
Life is simple I think that we complicate it at times.
We returned home yesterday afternoon and we attended church and as always it was beautiful. Fathers sermon spoke so directly to me on all that I have been dealing with. If you listen God counsels , conforts us and makes sense out of this life.
The veil is drawn back and we grow ever closer to his love and protection.
Trust in the God who created and loves us. Amen. 🙂
You know, Growing up I heard an expression alot. It was that we make our plans and God laughs at us.
When I was younger I thought it was witty. But as I have gotten older I think that it is not the best tribute that we can give God.
Heres why, Life happens we all know. God has given us free will so we make our own choices. That statement Jesus laughs at us can imply that he is mocking us when stuff happens or we have a failure in our personal journeys. My feeling is this, God does not mock us for making mistakes or take joy in our negative situation. God is not arrogant he is perfection in every way.
What God does expect for us to do is to converse with him , pray and get guidance on a given situation and to move forward with renewed vigor towards a positive outcome. Amen.
